with many good explanations about basic planet make up and how the ...

If your a fan of the original series, forget this atlas. It is way too confusing, too many planets, too many wars...too many Enterprises. With the flood of Star Trek Movies and spinoffs, its disappointing that the original series has gotten the short shrift. I can't find Ceti Alpha V, I can't find the Mutara Nebula....Its probably there somewhere, but with so many planets, the author as tried to cram all the movies, all the spinoffs, and the original series, into one atlas. This is a colorful book, with many good explanations about basic planet make up and how the federation classified planets. Political info is very good, and even some basic history is done well. Unfortunately I can only give this three stars because there is too much information crammed into 96 pages.

Star Trek Star Charts

Star Trek Star Charts: The complete Atlas of Star Trek is a fantastic book. It is worth it to get this book, because it contains tons of information about the galaxy in Star Trek. From learning about planets and their characteristics to colorful, detailed maps and from learning about sectors to ship paths, this book is a great reference for any level of Star Trek fan.
For the hardcore Star Trek fan it might be a little lacking. If you read the negative reviews you can see what I am saying, but judge for yourself. I consider myself a semi-hardcore fan, and I thought this book was excellent. I learned more about the star trek universe than I ever had before. I would have liked to seen a few maps of the political boundaries from the original show, because I think the maps are mostly from Enterprise and TNG, but use your imagination. I found so many things from the show on the maps that I got geeked up. So, for the less hardcore fan, I believe you will enjoy this book.

Very Artistic But lacks substance

I was really hoping that there would be star charts of the Alpha Quadrant. The book is hard to follow at 1st. The art is excellent and the Voyager route home pages are great. But the book lacked a lot of detail. The section on how the quadrants/sectors are all divided up is cool. This is not a star chart guide as much as it is a galactic overview. It lacks a lot of detail.
